E.O. Green Junior High School has been officially designated as a California Purple Star School, a prestigious recognition awarded by the California Department of Education (CDE) to schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star designation is granted to schools that provide strong transition programs, dedicated support services, and an inclusive campus climate that addresses the unique needs of military students. With many families in the Oxnard community affiliated with the armed forces, E.O. Green JHS has prioritized creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students whose lives are impacted by military service.
E.O. Green JHS implemented several initiatives to earn this recognition, including a Military and Family Life Counselor on campus and a Wellness Center that provides emotional and academic support. The school also maintains a dedicated webpage with resources for military families and collaborates with community organizations to ensure students have access to the services they need.
This designation reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, including those from military families, feel supported and empowered to succeed. We are proud to be recognized for our work to help military-connected students navigate their unique challenges.
