Wearable Technology on Campus

Dear E.O. Green Families,

As technology continues to evolve, we are writing to share an important update about wearable technology on campus. To prioritize the privacy and safety of all our students and staff, Meta AI glasses are not permitted on school grounds.

Because these smart glasses have the ability to record audio and capture video covertly, they present significant privacy and safety concerns for our school community. This restriction is in direct alignment with Hueneme Elementary School District (HESD) Board Policy regarding personal electronic devices and student conduct, which prohibits the use of technology that disrupts the educational environment or infringes upon the privacy rights of students and staff. We want to ensure our classrooms and campus remain secure spaces where students feel comfortable and safe.

We kindly ask that you discuss this district policy with your students and ensure that Meta AI glasses, as well as similar wearable recording technologies, are left at home. Devices brought to campus in violation of this policy will be subject to standard HESD procedures for unauthorized electronic devices.
